about: The journey and the bio!

Once Upon a Time..

Way back inYr 12 I loved a subject called 'Life Management' for its focus on  wellbeing. Teaching was a way that could best support these aspects in teens and in schools. Combined with my passion for music I thrived in any capacity where I could connect with others and lead experiences and groups in ways that were fun, motivating and purposeful.

While teaching I became increasingly aware and passionate about the need for proactive wellbeing initiatives that could support students and staff, promote unity and impact school culture. At that time wellbeing did not have the same time or attention as it does now and I longed to increase the impact and exposure students were having to wellbeing based support.

In 2017, I took a year of leave to reassess and be present with my very young children. Midway through that year, the call to create grew strong. One day, for no reason at all, I created a “presentation.” I remember including a quote from Oprah about teaching students about friendship — and that they may not be everyone’s cup of tea. I also remember saying to my mum, “I created a presentation today, and I have no idea why!”

Exactly 1 week later I received a call from a mentor and friend asking if I would be interested in delivering a student wellbeing session! A whole hearted YES was my answer and for 8 years I have had the privilege of supporting wellbeing in schools and speaking to large volumes of staff and students.

During the 'covid era' when all work as I knew it ceased, it allowed me the chance to once again create. Free to Be Resources was born of that time and a desire to continue to be of service.

My passion for wellbeing and connection remains strong - I remain excited about creating resources and experiences that lift human spirit and elevate human experiences!
